Greetings,
I just picked up a Bafang and battery and plan to convert this bike. Right now, the plan is to create a tray to hold the battery basically going right across the top tube. Does anyone have experience doing that on this type of frame, or any concerns with to high of center of gravity with that location? First build and first e-bike so any feedback is appreciated. Thanks!
Thank you. Unfortunately it does not fit on either angled side and would need to bridge that dip.
I posted the same question on Reddit and was informed I should run from this bike and look at getting a better used one that will be more up to the task of conversion in regard to safety, stopping, etc. I fear they may have a point.
I have a similar bike that I converted. It's an old Trek full suspension. I mounted my battery (17ah 48v hailong) on the top tube and it is not an issue, altho' I don't do technical riding, ie mountain downhill. It looks like you might be able to put it on your downtube, however, and that would be superior. Is there enough length on your crossbar to mount a battery w/o running into that angled brace to the headstock? Good luck, I like finding solutions to these problems--Half the fun of e-biking!
