Can I add a mid-drive (Bafang?) to a Co-Motion tandem? The "boob tube" seems to get in the way of putting one in the stoker's position (nearest to cassette). Can I put it in the captain's bottom bracket?
On the old (yellow) columbia tandem video, can anyone work out what gearing he has in place? I know he says 28T front chainring (on the bafang) , but any other insights around the stoker chainring size and rear cog size? I have an old surrey bike I refurbished and have added a CYC motor to the front driver's side, but that's all connected to the original non-PAS gearing: 36T front, 36T second row, and 28T cog (attached to a 7 speed nexus). I'm scratching my head over how an e-PAS gearing setup should be? Looks like he has a much smaller rear cog (maybe 14t?) and maybe a 40+ toothed stoker chainring, on top of the 28T front ring. Any ideas on what they actually are though?
interesting, not many have experience with tandems here but johhnys has a video with a tandem bike frame they tried, it works. a motor is a motor. can always give it a try, if it fits the bb, chain fits around the gear, it should work, in theory.
