I took the measurements (14.5”L x 3.75”W) from the page on the shop here for the 52v slim shark buttery pack and made myself a cardboard cutout. The battery pack does not appear to be a perfectly square cornered box, and has some angles on both long ends.
if I can get this battery pack closer to the neck I think it will clear the rear shock. I want to find before I spend $500 on this battery though.
Remember it needs about an inch for docking.
@MattCo I just got a 29" HAL motobecane, very similar frame to yours and am considering adding the same motor on it. Nice job on the conversion!!
Do you have any lessons learned or tips for me? couple questions- do you think the #of chainring teeth matters? Also the internally routed factory cables going to derailleur and rear brake go directly through where the bafang motor goes- did you swap their positions and run them up and over criss cross?
A follow up to my earlier post. I cut the cardboard like John suggests and took a chance and it paid off! I ordered the 52v 17.5AH battery from Johnny along with the BBSHD kit and it fits nicely with room to spare! It does rattle a bit so I will need to get another mount on the upper end/front end of the mount.
it may be too tight a fit, and taking into account where the mounting plate needs to fit on those bottle cage screws it prob needs some wiggle room. in that case id look for a custom slim pack. I have one for sale 52v 12ah samsung 40T cells. 640 watt hours or 20-30 miles of range. would fit there great, or I can point you to where you can buy a custom pack yourself. bicycle motor works dot com. costs about 500-600$ for a good pack but worth it when you need the smallest dimensions, and lowest weight for a custom solution, esp full susp. id sell my battery for 400.
