I'm interested in converting by power-assisted trike to an internal hub. Detrailor is a pain. Does anyone know where I can purchase a 20-inch rear wheel with perhaps something like a 5-speed Sturmey-Archer hub already installed? Installing it myself on my current rear wheel looks difficult, but I prob. could swap wheels.
I have searched Google looking for somebody who sells such wheels, but no luck.

I switched my ICE Adventure HD FS20 from the factory derailleur setup to a Rohloff IGH over two years & 8,000 miles ago. When I made the switch I was running a 52V TSDZ2 which I switched out this year for a Toseven DM01. I bought my Rohloff built wheel and accessories from Utah Trike. Contact them and let them know what trike you have and they will provide a wheel which will fit your trike along with cables cut to the proper length. All you have to do is remove the derailleur and replace it with the Rohloff tensioner, Remove your wheel and replace with the Rohloff wheel (may have to add an anti-torque device depending upon your current configuration, on my ICE it was configured with the option of a rear disk brake and they use the caliper adapter), remove your shift lever and cable and replace with the Rohloff shifter/cable/shift box assembly. Once this is done you are ready to ride and the only maintenance is to change the Rohloff fluid once a year and check the cable for stretching which may have occurred through use (adjusted with cable adjusters just like cable brakes). I consider the Rohloff switch to be one of my best and well spent moves in my 20 years riding trikes.
Try Facebook Marketplace / Craigslist - search "3 speed bike" - you will find a ton of inexpensive wheels...many still on super inexpensive bikes. I use a hub gear - and quite honestly, rarely change.

I'm looking for 20x4 wheels i'm planning on the purchase of a lectric xp trike - thinking on putting on 4inch wheels and tires with tubes& boots - what can you get gthuff@gmail.com
Talk to a local bike shop to have it custom built. If they don’t build wheels, they should be able to point you in the direction someone who does. It’s about $100 labor to build a wheel, so plan on spending $250-350 depending on the quality of the rim and spokes.
we dont suggest using hub motors or premade ebikes here. custom ebikes with mid drive motors only. some people here have trikes with mid drives, i have no experience w it tho.
