Battery base
Dear all, I've recently purchased a Bafang and Jumbo Shark battery, which I plan to install in a Gary Fischer Al frame bike. The frame is light and I've twice cracked it twice because of material fatigue. I ride in Costa Rica where the trails are rough, and I fear that the 2 bottle holder rivnuts might not be strong enough to hold a load for which they're not intended. I've been thinking about reinforcing the base fixation by installing 3 rivnuts of by using straps, but I'd like to know if someone has a better idea or experience. Thanks so much in advance
You might want to think about a stronger framed bike. If you've cracked it twice already and you are putting on a (heavy) jumbo battery and a Bafang (powerful) motor, then you are asking for trouble. The original bosses for water bottles are actually quite strong. Stronger than riv-nuts, I believe. If you still want to go this route, you might consider an additional cinching belt to reinforce the battery attachment.
Good luck, Buena suerte. Where are you in Costa Rica? I spent a few weeks there a long time ago. Best country in Central America. One of the best in the world. I wish I was there right now!
