I have just finish my build on a trek marlin7 29" wheels and a 42T sprocket. i have insalled the eggrider v2 display and have ajustet the settings to "karls Sauce". Anyway i see people everywhere getting speeds about 55-60 KM/h on this setup - but i DONT! it will barley hit 50 - is it my 42T sprocket thats too small or? The settings in eggrider v2 should be all good ... I just cant figure it out! thanks

I also run a 46t and it will do 35mph if there are no strong winds or slopes to contend with. I have 9 power settings and for the 1st week loved going flat out whenever I could. I live in a rural beachside setting with a few hills and open roads. I have since decided 25mph is enough and use power settings 5 or 6 most often, and concentrate on using the gears. My previous bikes were hub drive and would cut out at specific speeds so I just powered it all the time.
My gear changes are much smoother at the lower power and I imagine that continuing to go as fast as I can would lead to a lot of wear in the drive train.
I have a bbs02 stock 46t goes 31 mph anything over 20mph eats the battery really fast. I leave my road at max 20 mph which is Legal for bike trails, but pedaling xand down hills should be plenty fast. You can maintain faster than 20 mph Pace for hours.
no prob. nice. also the 500c is quite small but thats why I like it, color display, compact and low key, shows all the info you need. if you want a big display u can check out the DPC-14 and there are others too.
thanks man for your great answer…
i will stick to the 42t ring for this season.. i will order a 500c display i find the eggrider v2 all too small/)
i will try the em3ev black profile:)
actually i bought the kit from em3ev- great company and over the top service /)
thanks man :)
I wouldnt worry about that. I felt the same but yes it depends on the front chain ring mostly, its gear ratios with the rear sprockets. For my area (steep hills and mountainy) a 42T is perfect, and you obv sacrifice a little speed for higher torque for climbing. Many ppl go with stock 46T so it should hit a slightly higher speed. Still I hit about 50 kph/31mph on just the motor on flat ground, which is fine. If you add in some pedaling you can go higher. What you come to realize is, it isnt always about speed, that can be dangerous over time. Whats good is having the right chainring for your ideal terrain, in my case climbing steep mtns like a beast. I dont know about EggRider I use the 500c w the BBSHD, and the em3ev-black profile. Generally keep to low PAS levels 1-3 and sometimes override with the throttle. Also be aware if you want to swap chainrings youll likely need a new chain or have to resize the chain by adding or removing links. I realized I didnt need a 52T for my area at all, I just wanted to try it out, but it needs a newly sized chain. When you find the magic chainring (42T usually) stick with it and dont worry about a few extra mph. Whats important to me is the bike getting through tough terrain and long range with a fat battery. Regularly hit 60-70 km on some very gradual downhill dirt roads with a bit of throttle, mostly PAS. Weee fun
