I am thinking of putting a trail thru the woods on my farm for mountain biking. I have some pretty steep hills, and the trail would be dirt and fairly ruff. I live in the suburbs, and have a road bike, but do not think hat would be good for my farm. I would be nice though, if it was something I could take out on the road as well, since it would be out in the country. Any suggestions??
Terry
I would recommend that you choose a bike with wider tires, more shifting modes, and preferably with a bit of power assist, which will make it easier for you to get around.
thanks
yeah theres tons of great full suspension or hardtail mtbs out there, specialized, trek, giant, transition, pivot, motobecane, lots of brands to choose from. find one that fits u, ideally at a local shop, and suitable for an ebike conversion (you want aluminum frame, BSA threaded 68-73mm Bottom Bracket, with space for a battery)
Thank you!
Hard to say whats 'best' with so many options and styles and your personal factors, its really whats best for you. Being 6' tall I wanted a full size high quality frame bike with folding capability. From a suggestion on ebike forums I went with the Paratrooper Highline 20" frame with 27.5" wheels, as its very suitable for ebike conversion due to large wheels, 10 speed rear cog, and comes with hyd brakes.
That said the bike is about 1400 and with the whole conversion kit, tool set, comfort accessories, the total cost is about 3500-4000. May seem like a lot but it is going to out perform ANY premade Specialized, Trek, Giant, etc bike out there, with the BBSHD motor and 52v 20Ah pack for much power and range. So I think of it as a one time investment for the best custom ebike you can put together. One guy on youtube did exactly what Im doing, Im going to be making videos on the upgrade from stock, comfort upgrades, then the whole motor upgrade which youll be able to see soon.

So, figure out the size bike frame and tires you need to fit you. Figure out your biking use case - commuting , trail riding, rough off road or a mix? Then assess your budget and whether you want a fat tire bike or other. In my case the Paratrooper cannot be a fat tire bike with a limit of 2.4" wide, which Im fine with.
Also see many of Johnnys vids on the bikes he has converted for ideas on what you might want. Good luck.
