I do ebike conversions here in NC and have always been uncomfortable recommending the stick on sensors for customers with hydraulic brakes. Instead I have been using the full hydraulic brake replacement kits with built in sensors like the one Johnny sells. However, it occurred to me that replacing both levers and calibers is really unnecessary and expensive when really only the levers need to be replaced. Recently discovered that there are a few sellers in China offering just the lever for $21 usd or a pair for $38. Suggestion to Johnny that he might consider offering this option on his website so we have a US supplier for them.

Any update on a set of hydraulic levers? I have two bikes that have Shimano brakes that are difficult to mount the sensors on. Tektronic are relatively easy but the magnets have fallen off.
I would very much appreciate hydraulic levers that could just my existing levers, but utilize the shimano portion.
After some trial and error with different vendors, this is the type of hydraulic brake level I can recommend. You can purchase the whole brake system or just the levers. I've installed about 10 so far and they all have worked flawlessly: https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256803020848270.html?spm=a2g0o.order_list.0.0.55681802QT1xuM&gatewayAdapt=glo2usa&_randl_shipto=US

I have hydraulic brakes also and the reservoir's shape is irregular without much flat surface. I applied the sensor, however I don't think I it is close enough to react with the magnet. Has anyone had to remove a stuck-on misplaced sensor and do you think I can build up the surface with clay-like epoxy to get a better fit? Thanks for any help.
I finally received shipments from 3 different vendors of the NFOX brake levers with the orange 3 pin connectors. One of the shipments was the wrong item and had red 2 pin connectors. The other two packages of levers appear to be defective. I have tried installing all 4 of the levers and none are cutting off the motor when pressed. I will have to withdraw my recommendation here until I can figure out what the issue is.
I'm in New Zealand and bought my kit locally 6mths ago. When speaking with the supplier I asked about hydraulic brake cut-offs and was told he didn't supply them because he believed them to be unnecessary as he programs the motor to stop as soon as pedalling stops. I was mildly surprised as I've been riding electric bikes for 6yrs and had several instances where they were "needed" when I bumped the throttle while stationary.
Ok, I thought, I'll be really careful and see how it goes and if a problem arises I will have to find a way of sorting it. Initially I was hypervigilant but over the months that has waned to being pretty careful, and everything has been fine so far. The Bafang throttle is harder to accidentally bump than my previous one so that helps, and I'm semi-rural so that probably helps too.
I'm still not sure but I'm a lot more comfortable about not having them, but I guess it will only take 1 "event" to change that.
Thanks for the tip David. I too have had that same dilemma/thought 😀
