Built a surf fishing e-bike. Took advantage of the Johhny Nerd-Out one on one consulting and Jonny guided me in the right direction when I faced a fork in the road on a few things. My motor arrived quickly and so far has been flawless.
Boats have a "sea trial"... my bike had it's "sand trial" today. Almost flawless... just need to fine tune a few things. Boogied along the shoreline about 6 miles or so and back. Bike did whatever was asked of it as soon as I figured out to use the gears like a transmission.
Controller settings out of the box were a little too aggressive starting out... After some programming changes things smoothed down and a top speed on the boardwalk going with the wind hit 37.6 mph (scary too fast for my 250lb 59 year old body). Average speed with pedal assist at the shoreline was 15 - 17 mph (perfect). Range with gentle pedaling should be about 30 plus miles round trip given my weight plus fishing gear.
Now these old legs and erector set back of mine can get to spots that are just too far to walk. So looking forward to the season ahead. May have to over-night some striped bass to Utah!
