Hey Y'all,
I thought I would post on the completed conversion since I asked if it would work here a while ago. I went with the 1000W 52V mid-drive motor BBSHD kit and a U004 52V 20Amh triangle battery; it worked out great. Gets me to work and back no problem, Zoom Zoom!
When I first posted what I would like to do, some of you said I would probably need the chainring with the offset which turned out to be right. I exchanged the 42T chainring for the 46T stock chainring with 16mm offset which worked out. I'll plan to get the Lekkie 46T chainring which has a 18mm offset, this stock chainring hasn't given me any issues but I'd feel better using 1st gear with a higher offset. (not that I really need 1st gear anymore lol).
I was unable to get the bottom bracket out myself so I had the bike shop I got the bike from taking it out which made it much less hassle. Once it was all set up I actually had a shop close by to do a proper drivetrain fitting as they were able to make a chain with a more exact length, which made my life a heck of a lot easier, I recommend having a regular bike shop take care of those 2 things if anyone does a conversion themselves. It didn't cost much at all and it saved me a headache.
Thanks for the input on my last post much appreciated.
Hi Matthew; which one are you calling “1st-gear”? The largest toothed gear (close to 1:1 ratio to chainring, used for power), or the smallest, used for speed? Thanks in advance.
