Hi all, I bought a 48V downtube battery for an ebike conversion, the battery would not fully charge only reaching around 51.2v then not holding its charge very well, I did get to replace that battery, thee aforementioned battery now will not charge no lights on the battery power indicator it just died, the battery has been kept indoors in a warm environment, yet now it won't even charge up at all, I'm baffled by this, can anything be done to bring this battery back to life?
Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks Stevie.
may have got a faulty batt from the start. if its out of warranty, (old) then it could have been stored improperly which reduces capacity. there are tips to prolonging li ion battery life which should be followed
Some (most) batteries like this have a fuse. You have to open the case to access it. That would be the simple solution.
All batteries have a BMS (battery management system). They can malfunction and need replacement. These are electronic devices that need to be soldered in place within the battery shell.
There may be one dead cell in the case that needs to be replaced. (there are many cells welded together).
Check the output voltage on the charger to start.
You need to be comfortable with a volt-meter, and very careful to not short anything out, when you are examining a battery like this.
You-tube can give you lots of info on all the above.
