Here is a pic of the aluminum channel I found at my local metal scrap yard. If you can drill, tap, and chamfer aluminum, you can create a battery adapter like the Grin Bobs. When I found these pieces, the section on the right was perfectly fitted inside the piece on the left. Separated, they provide two different sizes of channel for different frame sizes. Section on left is about 1 5/8" wide and the one on the right is about 1 3/8" wide. Height is about 1/2" but they don't raise the height of the battery that much since they stradde the frame somewhat. I would guess additional height from using them is about 1/4".
I tried the double bob and it worked ok. It also made me realize it was not that difficult to fabricate. For subsequent builds, I found some aluminum channel at a metal scrapyard and now create my own adapters.
While I was converting my Trek Verve last fall, I bought one of the Triple Bob mounts but returned it when I decided that mounting the battery in the water bottle position would block the step thru. I'm too old and stiff to lift my leg over the seat. So, I put the battery on a luggage rack over the back wheel.
Yes, they work great! However they do add height onto the battery , removing clearance which may cause issues. Lekkie also makes a version as well. I do carry them in my shop 👍

Good Idea!
