I suppose you could put a mid-drive on it but what is the point of that? You'd be left with a used hub motor in a wheel and that isn't very saleable by itself. In other words, don't waste your money.

Note that it's a hub drive, not mid, and cadence sensor. I'd suggest that, if at all possible he test ride one and see how it fits and feels. Our local dealer carries Ride1Up so I've seen this model. For the current price, it's pretty solid. I did not ride it because I have a 35" inseam and need a larger frame than the one-size-fits-all.

Right you are, Floyd! I must have been looking at one of their other bikes. (Or had a brain fart). Definitely good advice on test-riding.I am not keen on the left hand thumb throttle, being an old motorcyclist, but that can be changed. I have both a hub drive and a mid-drive. The mid-drive is more torquey and satisfying overall and is much more efficient in terms of battery range.
