I am just looking into creating an e-bike
and was wondering what bike brand and size is the best and or easiest to convert? Also when looking at motors at what point does the wattage become overkill. I see motors rated at 1000 and 3000 watts. Recommendations, advice, and personal experience are very much appreciated.
I have on order a FX3 Trek only $999.00, for me the best dual purpose bike, It has good size wheels, Hydraulic brakes and a 10 speed with a single gear front sprocket, Have to wait until January due to supply chain. This years model is new older models had dual gear front sprockets. My research came up with this as best for my needs. I ordered the 40 tooth sprocket kit to match my stock front gear.
I was not aware that there were legal issues with the wattage size of the motor. how does one find out what issues their state has on the size of the motor?
Id say theres no easy answer to whats best, its what suits you and your use case. See many of Johhnys vids for ideas, he does anything from big brands Trek Specialized conversions to uncommon one offs. My take on the motor is, stick with tried and true 750w or 1000w BBS02 or BBSHD. Anything higher than that, not really legal for street or trail use, off road only.
