I recently owned two hunting ebikes from a well known ebike company. Total disaster! I have discovered JNO on YouTube and and super excited that I can build a DIY EBIKE. So, I do have just a general question regarding mountain bike vs. fat tire ebike. I am 6’0 290 lbs. super athletic not fat. Just a big guy. Would I be better off with a fat tire bike or a mountain bIke. Ride hills in ozarks. Not opposed to either just thought maybe a fat tire bike was better for a larger guy. Also, one last question. JNO mentions a trek 4300. Good for my weight? Also, guy close to me has a motobecane. Are they generally decent or a junk bike?

Greetings from a native Missourian that lives in NC now but visits the Ozarks still annually. I'm 6'2" 270lbs and ride a converted hard tail mountain bike (Talon) about 25 miles a day on mostly paved trails. I have no issues. I think the decision between mtn bike and fat bike is more about the surfaces you plan to ride. Mtn bikes are fine for hard pack dirt and pavement trails. Fat bikes are better for loose, wet, or sandy trails.
