I am very new to all this so don't not sure if how much things are supposed to be worth. So i went to a small local bike shop to see if they had anything. Its very well rated 4.9 star rating across 120+ review on google. They had only one ebike in there. This one here. https://www.merida-bikes.com/en-au/bike/2799-3792/espresso-city-300-se-eq-504wh
Its pretty pricey for me at around 4000aud. Is it worth it? The guy there told me that this was the lowest spec model he was will to sell because he didn't trust the quality of anything less. He also mentioned that hub drives were less good.
Is there $4000 of bike there or is going to be one of the overpriced ones like in this video?

Thanks
yeah and its much a better route to find the best bike frame that fits you and has the features you want for your riding style and terrain and convert that, than sift through all the premade junk ebikes out there, and be stuck with buyers remorse later. also doing the conversion yourself is going to teach you more about bikes and how to be your own bike tech, instead of pay some overpriced labor to someone at a bike shop.
We always recommend here to AVOID any premade ebikes, those with hub motors, etc. Being stuck permanently with a crappy hub motor or a weak motor with integrated battery with a 1 year warranty is NOT worth it, when that warranty expires and your bike breaks down, its done for.
