Hello,
Okay I know this a bike forum but I'm going to run this by you guys because I cant find a "trike" specific forum that's dedicated to the details like Johnny.
I recently perched a used HP Velotechnic S-Pedelec. I have put on about 250 miles, riding between 12-26 miles at a time.
I live in MN with rolling farm land and sometimes use the assist on 1-2 (out of 5) in town or really steep stuff around rivers. I use the regeneration when on long down hill stretch's, my battery seems to be holding at about 60-80%. Now I'm 62 not 22 so I'm not after speed, I average about 12 mph.
I'm impressed with the regeneration of this unit, this is the Go Swiss Drive that is no longer supported by anyone, but it works just fine, the reverse is something I don't need and I think was for people with special needs.
Sooo my question is, if I upgrade to mid-drive can I use the hub for regeneration of the mid-drive?
The hub is a 36 volt, so would I be limited to 36v or could bump that up to 48volts?
If this is too impractical I may switch out the hub to my Greenspeed tandem, then reverse would be nice sometimes.
Thanks, Don
PS. the HP Bottom bracket (top bracket on a trike) measures 60mm, do the kits come with spacers?
You shouldn't have much trouble improvising spacers and some kits come with them. (possibly not enough to span 8mm but you should be able to manage. The hub usage as a generator is an interesting idea. If you need more volts than you can buy, quite cheaply, a "voltage buck" which can turn, thru' some kind of electronic magic, your low voltage to a higher one. Or a lower voltage. I am no electronic expert but this much I know. I used a buck to reduce voltage on a previous bike so I could take 5V for accessory use.
sorry but i can tell u 99% chance no one here has experience with that kind of hub motor or setup. minimum BB width for most motors is 68mm. so the motors here wont fit your bracket.
