I have a Trek Farley 9.8 Fat bike I'm thinking of electrifying. I'm on the fence with either going with a front hub motor or mid drive. There are no options that I can find available for a rear hub motor with 197 x 12 axle. The downside of going with the front hub drive is traction. This will be a snow bike riden on technical trails. The question I have is; are there torque sensing bottom brackets available for the PF 121 bottom bracket? This may be another disadvantage of going with a front hub motor because I don't want to run a cadence sensor. I believe the mid drive motors have a torque sensor built in. The concern I have with the mid-drive setup is not knowing whether or not it would even fit my carbon frame with the press fit bottom bracket. Has anyone out there tried this yet?

What 1fitz said about the mid-drives-far superior. I believe a front hub-drive would be suicidal on a snow bike. The Bafang mid-drives do not have a torque sensor but I've seen them somewhere as an optional extra. Tongsheng motors are based around a torque sensing crank so they may be worth looking at.
mid drive motor all the way, no brainer. as for the fit, youre gonna have to figure out the dimensions to see if it fits. BTW check out johhnys recent youtube vid on this topic of carbon fiber bikes and why they are NOT preferable for ebike conversions
