Hi - about a month or so ago I lost the ability to alter the level of power assist for a short time, ie. the plus and minus switches didn't work. Then for a little they did but unreliably and then all was normal again.
The other day it happened again, and I have had 2 days of very intermittent control. This afternoon all started working properly again.
I am blaming the + and - buttons but it could be anything. The on/off switch operated properly and I could get into settings, but again, while in settings the + and - buttons didn't work. I have a replacement switch on its way to me but I don't really want to change it out if it isn't the cause.
Any thoughts?
A new display unit has arrived, but ironically the current setup is working perfectly. It was switching with the + and - buttons 95% properly but tne last Sat it wouldn't turn on. I left it. then that afternoon I charged it, It had been around 50%, and tried and it came on. On Sunday a similar thing happened. On Monday I serviced the bike and found that the cable for the rear lights had some of the insulation off. It had never been connected.
I sorted that and it has been 100% for the last 2days. Slightly weird. I am holding off fitting the new display until something goes wrong again.
The new switch arrived, I plugged it in and things were no different. I do get ocassional random responses to using the switch. The other day it worked perfectly for 15mins.
the pins in the switch and display plugs can bend very easily. double check that yours are straight. these style of buttons are also very frequently "water resistant" as opposed to actually being waterproof so hard rain can sometimes do damage. if you have a new switch on the way at least give it a try to see if it makes a difference.
Yours sounds like a short or intermittent disconnect. Maybe try unplugging and reinserting the connector. WD40 can't hurt and will eliminate any moisture that may have gotten in there.
I've had problems with mine, too. I have 5 levels of assist and usually have it set to 4. Often, usually after a fast run, I notice that the pedaling is easy and think that I must be really getting into shape. Then I look down and see that I am riding in the 5th level. At first I thought I had accidentally punched the + button while in the twisties but after checking again and again, I find it's switch itself. Anybody have experience with this?
