I am looking to upgrade my Yuba Mundo Classic Cargo bike from a bbs02b motor to a BBSHD. I currently have a 42 lekkie bling ring, and it clears my chainstay with a bbs02, but the chain is really, really close to the 2.125 tires in my lowest granny gear. I want to also upgrade my tires to 2.4 inch wide tires (realizing I may not be able to). I've looked on-line to try to find out just how much further out from the bike the BBSHD motor will bring the chainring--if at all, and I guess I just don't know where to look as I can't seem to find a comparison online. Perhaps the JNO crowd can give me some clues? One would think I could wait till I have the motor in hand and then eyeball it to figure which chainring specific to the BBSHD to purchase, (wait for a part). But the cargo bike is my SUV, so to speak--would prefer to just get the BBSHD installed w/ a well positioned chainring right away, in one fell swoop, and be peddling onward.

the bbso2 42T ring has 9mm offset, the 42T HD ring another 9mm closer to the cassette/wheel, which you may not want. dropping to a 36T HD ring puts you at 5mm offset, or 4mm away from the cassette wheel. which may help you but its a fine balance for the chainline so make sure its able to line up ok with all the gears you can sort of eyeball it with a straight object. also youll have more torque on the lower tooth ring for better acceleration but lower top speed in your top gear. via lekkie.tech :
