Didn't seem to be an issue for the first 200 miles. Not sure if it is a spacer issue behind the stock chairing or an internal failure that imparted play and caused the grinding into the back of the chainring.

i actually had a similar issue, chainring was rubbing on the outside of that bulge where the small metal gear is. sometimes u gotta take a dremel with a grinding bit to take a little metal off and smooth a few jagged spots on the motor. u want to catch it before it becomes a problem
